Raw Earth and Acoustic Clay

Inside a converted warehouse in Málaga's Soho district, four independent ceramicists are collaborating on a shared firing program that prioritizes local clay bodies and acoustic performance over decorative finish.

The surface is not the point. The sound of the room is the point.

Each piece is hand-pressed from clay quarried within 80 kilometres of the studio, then fired in a low-energy kiln designed to reduce thermal shock during the cooling cycle.

Material Sources

  • Clay: Ronda basin, 60km north
  • Glaze ash: Olive pit ash from Jaén mills
  • Firing: Single gas kiln, cone 6 oxidation
  • Output: 40 acoustic panels per quarter

The resulting surfaces absorb mid-range frequencies that hard plaster walls reflect, making them ideal for the open-plan coastal interiors now common across the Costa del Sol.

“The daily record is where a place reveals its actual rhythm.”
